The Government announced this week that the new Personal Property Security Act (PPSA) will now not come into effect until early 2012. MCS are working on automated process to help our clients register their contracts as per the requirements under the Act. For more information on the Act and the registry you can go to www.ppsr.gov.au.

A New Act that affects all hire clients
MCS are aware of the Personal Property Security Act (PPSA) and the registration requirements (PPSR) around that Act. This comes into play in October 2011, MCS are currently working on system solution that will help our hire clients register their security over the equipment they rent out. This relates to long term rentals, for more information on what we are doing please contact Anna Muldrock 02 9440 7102.
Some council’s are refusing to sign hire agreements and are inflicting their own agreements upon hire companies. A heads up to check the agreements fully as some Council’s are not paying out damage costs. This is becoming more common, don’t get caught out!

Also in May was the HRIA show, firstly congratulations to our client Event Power and Light for winning the best small hire company of the year award. Truly well deserved, having worked with them we know how dedicated they are. We travelled to Perth this year which gave us an opportunity to catch up with many of our clients. Due to the distance often our WA clients don’t get to our events, so we threw our own little event at Frasers, it was a lovely night. It was great to see how well WA is doing, our clients are busy and there is a lot of hope that things will continue to grow.
So far this year we have experienced strong steady growth, we have taken on at least one new client every month. With our client base growing so well we have yet again expanded our staff, Ben Hawker has had years of experience with software solutions and has been learning MCS very quickly. Ben is truly a great resource for us and everyone is benefiting from his customer focused attitude.

Christmas lunch and client update
Keep the 9th of December free we will be having our Xmas lunch at the Lord Nelson at the Rocks. Invitations will come out to you closer to the time. The 9th is a Friday so for those clients that are not in Sydney it might be a good opportunity to have a weekend away – the MCS team would love to see as many clients at the luncheon as possible.
Our next client webinar is on the 20th of October 2011 at 1pm. We have some exciting new software to show you – KPI (Key Performance Indicator) reports which come free to download in the 3.22 release.
We will also show you reporting Cubes – which are an easy way to get some excellent reports out. Plus we will have an update on the PPSA (personal property security Act) which the government is bringing out early next year and will affect a lot of our hire clients.

MCS recently went to the Hire And Rental Industry Association’s away meeting
in the Hunter Valley. It was a very interesting meeting, we had a talk from Mark Parker of Smart Selling Pty Ltd – a Social Media expert – yes MCS need to start blogging so watch this space….he had some very good points for hire companies; how do you get your website higher up on a google search? Get the basics of your search right – headings etc are you embedding videos into your site? If you missed this meeting you missed some good information. We also discussed the new Personal Property and Security Act which is out in October; MCS are working on system solution for this.

MCS Australia had their annual conference in May, over the two days we grew stronger as a team through a group called Leading Teams. All of the staff thoroughly enjoyed the event, and we have a re-invigorated enthusiasm for assisting you in making your hire businesses better. Customer service has always been a major focus for us and with new plans in place the whole team is looking forward to the next year with even more focus on client needs. We know we are doing the right thing when referrals come our way, so thank you to all our clients who are spreading the word.
On February the 17th at 1pm NSW time we are having our next client webinar in which we will demonstrate a new accounts payable module. Also we will have a 30 minutes questions and answers session so if you have any questions please let us know – this is a great way to get in some extra training. Last year we had a great HRIA show due to word of mouth (a big thank you to our current clients for spreading the word) – MCS welcomed a few more clients on board. In the latter part of 2010 we won even more hire sites. For the last few years MCS have been gaining good market share in Australia (MCS is a UK based product) we now have two offices in Australia and our customers are scattered over the country.
So once again a big thank you to our clients who were at the show!
